Poi Juggling Skill Quest

Cumulative BN Charter with digit-locked rhythm strata and a plane-authorship track. Familiar cumulative grade bands, poi-specific difficulty, local practice log.

Independent programme. Unaffiliated with the World Juggling Federation. Grade-band letters borrow a familiar cumulative shell; tasks and difficulty are written for tethered poi.

Charter

This programme grades technical toss juggling with poi. Continuous spinning, weaves, flowers, contact, and wraps remain available practice; they do not pass a juggling requirement on their own. Repeated throws and dwell form the sport core.

Rank bands

  • Entry–1C three-poi foundation
  • 2A–2C advanced three + intermediate four
  • 3A–3C advanced four + five acquisition
  • 4A–4C five as peak; keep lower numbers mixed

Foundation order

companion → principal → (own pattern) → . Forward after backward. One-up 360 before 180.

Digit lock (rhythm stratum)

Through 2C siteswap work under unless stated: digit 2 always spinning; digit 1 passed with spin. Those dwell semantics follow Bow’s public no-beat siteswap catalogue (see Sources).

Wallplane dwell by object count

Odd counts (3, 5, 7): front-wall patterns in this quest (, , , and later odd ) use extra spin only. No-beat on odd counts is not required.

Even counts (2, 4, 6, 8): work is mostly one-hand pair control. may be no-beat or extra-spin; declare and hold. As even siteswaps grow, difficulty rises through hand and body position.

Practice log (this page)

  • Checkboxes and open grades persist in this browser only.
  • Export draws a self-attested practice log from checked objectives — no peer review.
  • Qualify = twice the object count unless a task states otherwise.
  • Plane transitions still ask for two camera angles when you film; authorship must match the declaration.

Proposed peer shell

  • No-drop video; written fail reasons; Entry–1C one reviewer; 2A+ two independent reviewers.
  • A peer certificate would list programme version, grade, task IDs, equipment, evidence, reviewers, date, historical vs current.
  • That shell is described here for a future federation-style run; this page does not perform it.

Selective limitation

Each rank sheet should state which freedoms are fixed, which stay open, and which transformations are under test. The sport object is narrower than all available poi practice. In this quest, cascade work for BN3 and F3 is side-plane; front-wall work uses WS3, WH3, 4WS-S, WS5, and other named front patterns. Side-plane four (4BN) stays no-beat. Odd wallplane = extra spin; even wallplane dwell is declared (see Wallplane dwell by object count).

Faults & evidence

General

Drop, collision, wrap, wrong catch region, uncontrolled stepping, incomplete turn, pause disguising a failed transition, failed qualify in/out.

Modality

Undeclared backward↔forward or async↔sync conversion; missing/extra spin; hidden corrective orbit; accidental pendulum; easier modality than declared. Odd wallplane run as no-beat fails this quest. For even wallplane (4WS-S), undeclared or drifting no-beat↔extra-spin fails — both dwells are legal only when declared and held.

Plane

Side planes = beside the body. Front wall = facing the camera wall. BN3 and F3 stay on the side planes; front-wall patterns are WS3, WH3, later 4WS-S and WS5 (and other named front patterns). Plane changes connect named side and front patterns by hand-driven break or by body-turn. Using the wrong method, or drifting without declaring it, fails. Missing the second camera angle on plane tasks fails. Odd front-wall destinations are extra-spin; even front-wall destinations declare dwell and do not inherit side-plane 4BN dwell automatically.

Camera

Ordinary runs: fixed frontal-oblique, full body and props visible. Plane tasks: frontal-oblique + lateral, no moving camera. Original speed; no hidden cuts inside a requirement; equipment declared (length, diameter, head mass, swivel, differences).
